Professional, Well-Trained Staff

Dr. Lopez

Dr. Alfredo 'Doc' Lopez, An honored Costa Rican G.P. and General Surgeon and is the CEO of The Rio Indio Ecolodge.

Dr. Lopez first visited the Rio San Juan Region in 1983 and at that time the area only had thatch roof homes, no doctors or any type of medical care. The good doctor started treating the local natives in the Rio San Juan Region. Dr. Lopez began a friendship of 25 years with the local Shaman and has helped many people over the years. In later years he built the first Medical Clinic in the area and has helped to put together many International Medical Missions in Rio San Juan and across Nicaragua.

Dr. Lopez envisioned in the vast untamed and unadulterated rainforest, a Lodge that not only would be an attraction for those seeking something new and adventurous, but an eco-friendly getaway that could serve to help protect the beautiful natural surroundings and create jobs for the local people. Doctor Lopez understands as a physician and humanitarian, that supporting the local community will help better the lives of everyone involved, including the guests that visit the Rio Indio Fishing Lodge. Dr. Lopez enjoys meeting all guests that visit The Rio Indio Lodge and hopes to get to know everyone on a personal basis.

The Rio Indio Lodge is truly an incredible paradise nestled atop a river bank only minutes from the Ocean. The lodge and accommodations were breathtaking only to be trumped by the incredible Tarpon fishing and Snook fishing to be had just a short boat ride from the docks. I hooked several 160lb Tarpon and a friend on my boat hooked a 240lb Tarpon that took him 2 hours and 4o minutes to reel in! - Michael Davis
